A Curb of Ideals – A New Year!

In Where art is never curbed... on January 2, 2011 at 9:05 am

Curbing with the Democrats and the Republicans in a new way!

Hello, back again for a new year and new ideas, – I hope you are all well!?  Never to curb our interests, we have an exhibit of Aimée Margolis (me) at the Da Gallery extended until the 27th of January in Chelsea, and also to discuss the closing of the Barnes & Noble Store – “Stand-Up & Shout” Demonstration and much more.

Chunghan Kim and "Girl with Bubbles" (alias Aimée Margolis) at Da Gallery.

The exhibit at the Da Gallery “Giggly, Bubbly Show” on 149 West 24th Street, 6th Floor is going to have a party on the the last day of the exhibit, January 27th at 6 PM. Please come to the exhibit. What makes this group show of interest is that I am identifying myself as a Korean male artist – (alias Chunghan Kim). For the past twenty years I have been doing a series of work called “A New Level of Awareness”, where I have been a Arab male artist, Lesbian, Male HIV artists and now Korean. Why? – By changing my gender, race and nationality, I am addressing the influence of perception of art.  Art – is it a pure form or are race and gender codification rampant in your perception of  the work? This is what I am addressing and redressing in this exhibition.

"Boycott Century 21"

Sunday, January 2, 2011 is the last day of the 66th street Barnes & Noble, an anchor in the community that will be missed. Being right across from Lincoln Center, it was a cultural magnet for the community. Giving voice to the community’s concerns, “Stand-up & Shout” was a rallying point I organized, to demonstrate how dismayed we all were at this lack of concern and the fat-pockets of Cushman & Wakefield, who could of done something $ , (with the help of the community) to save this much treasured oasis. Instead we are going to get an inappropriate  “Linty” Century 21 clothing store in its space, – like a Pottersville vs Baily mind-set (in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”– “Boycott Century 21 !”is a rallying cry to kick Cushman & Wakefield in their fat pockets! Maybe C&W will consider the community next time….. Happy New Year!

Bye, Bye Barnes & Noble, we knew you well! - Eric is at the rally.

  1. Hi Aimée, You are definitely Chunghan Kim! One of the things that amazes me about you is your versatility and creativity. It inspires me to do further explore those way out ideas that pop into my head from time to time. Thanks.
